Kids' Cut (under 12)

A real haircut for real kids, done by stylists who actually enjoy it

An unhurried cut for younger clients, with a stylist who is patient about first haircuts.

Prep before your appointment

  • Bring their hair clean and dry if you can, it helps us see their natural texture and how it falls before we start cutting
  • Let us know ahead of time if they get anxious in the chair, so we can plan a little extra time and keep things relaxed
  • For longer hair that tangles easily, a quick brush-through at home before the appointment saves everyone some tears
  • Tell us what works and what hasn't in past cuts, that information genuinely helps us do better work

Aftercare

  • Kids' hair can dry out fast in the summer heat, so a light leave-in conditioner a few times a week goes a long way
  • A wide-tooth comb used on wet hair is much kinder to fine or curly textures than a brush
  • If the style starts to grow out unevenly or lose its shape sooner than expected, come back in, we'd rather do a small tidy-up than have them stuck with something frustrating
  • Ask us at the appointment which products are actually worth using for their hair type, and which ones you can skip

Who you'll see

Stylists for Kids' Cut (under 12)

Kids can be unpredictable in the chair, restless one minute, suddenly fascinated by the mirror the next. Our stylists are used to working with younger guests and know how to keep the appointment moving at a pace that doesn't stress anyone out. At $24 and about 30 minutes, a kids' cut here is straightforward: we ask what you're going for, factor in what their hair actually does day-to-day, and get it done well.

Coming in with hair that's clean and detangled makes the cut faster and more comfortable for them. Once they're home, a simple trim every 6 to 8 weeks usually keeps the shape in good order, though faster-growing hair can push that closer to every 4 to 6 weeks. Curl Interrupted Salon & Spa in Waco is a low-pressure spot for kids who are new to the salon chair and regulars alike.

Good to know

How do I prepare my child for their first salon haircut?

Coming in with clean, detangled hair is the biggest help. Beyond that, it's fine to let them know what to expect: they'll sit in a chair, the stylist will wet or dry their hair, and the whole thing wraps up in about half an hour.

What age counts as a kids' cut?

This service is for children under 12. If your child is 12 or older, they'd typically be booked under a standard cut service, just reach out if you're unsure which to choose.

How much does a kids' haircut cost at Curl Interrupted?

A kids' cut for children under 12 is $24. The appointment runs about 30 minutes.

Do you cut kids' hair?

We do. Kids' cuts are $24 for ages 12 and under, and Matthew is our go-to for first haircuts. We ask that children not being serviced stay seated with an adult, since the salon floor gets busy.
